Madrassa

Weekday Madrassa

Noor Ul Islam supports and sponsors two Madrassa run at the Noor Ul Islam Centre. The Leyton Muslim Cultural Society Madrassa is long established and employs a number of qualified male and female staff.

The Madrassa runs five days a week beginning at 4:30pm and ending at 6:30pm. We have approximately two hundred children attending from 5 years of age and above. The children are taught according to a carefully planned curriculum and a thought out weekly work programme implemented by the teachers.

The progress of the children is also monitored through their work diaries which the Madrassa teachers and the parents use to record the childrens activities. Success is acheived through teamwork, not just the teachers but the parents also need to be involved in educating the children.

Regular assemblies are held during the week to address and highlight specific issues. Basic Islamic principles are relayed to the children during assembly through simple stories and readings. There are parent’s evenings held during the course of the year between parents and teachers to discuss progress and any issues that may be of concern. Overall the Madrassa aims to instil in the children an education in Islam that will benefit not just them but the Muslim Ummah as a whole.

Saturday Madrassa

This Madrassa takes place on Saturday mornings between 10:00am and 12:30pm. The Madrassa originally started in the Leyton Sixth Form College and was then moved to the Noor Ul Islam Centre. The Madrassa is an excellent supplement to the weekday Madrassa.

Hifz Classes

Noor Ul Islam also runs two Hifz classes at the Masjid. There are approximately 12 boys in each class. Our Hifz students attend lessons twice every weekday from 6:45am to 7:45am and then again in the afternoon at 5pm and ending at 7:15pm. Previously the Masjid had only one class but as the class became popular we were requested to begin a second. In response the second class began in March 2002. This class is made up of mainly younger children, the youngest being only 7 years old.
